Brothers In Arms Pty Ltd
Established in 1998, Brothers in Arms has become a benchmark producer in the Langhorne Creek region. The winery has until recently produced two red wines, a super premium Shiraz and a premium Shiraz Cabernet, which are sold both domestically and internationally. A new brand, Formby's Run, is also about to be launched.
Since its inception the Brothers in Arms brand has been successful with both wines winning numerous awards, most notably the No 6 Shiraz Cabernet receiving the 'George Mackay Trophy' for 'Best Export Wine in Australia 2004' from a field of 13,00 wines. The success of these wines is in large part due to the high quality of fruit sourced from the family’s Metala Vineyards.
Brothers in Arms is owned by Guy and Liz Adams and, with their children Myles and Emily being the 6th generation to live on the property, the No 6 Shiraz Cabernet was created to recognise the longevity of their family’s involvement in the industry in Langhorne Creek.
The Metala Vineyards which supply Brothers in Arms and Formby's Run is a diverse estate with many differing soil types and vine ages. Each individual block yields its own particular flavour profile and qualities.
The final blend for the super premium Shiraz is determined through astute blending and understanding of these characteristics. On average up to 20 parcels of fruit will be brought together ranging in vine age from 6 to 115 years and from alluvial river silts to poorer sandy loams. The influences of these factors, along with careful oak selection, provide layers of complexity and a many dimensional finished product.
The No 6 Shiraz Cabernet is an extremely approachable wine which truly over delivers on quality for the price. Again, the selection of component blocks is done with a deep understanding of the characteristics each will yield and a moderate oak influence adds subtle complexity and interest. PO Box 840
